NTI's Owen Driscoll named Transport "Icon of the Year"

NTI’s National Industry Affairs Manager, Owen Driscoll, has been named an “Icon of the Industry” at the 2015 National Road Transport Hall of Fame Reunion in Alice Springs.

The “Icon of the Industry” award celebrates Australians who have given a lifetime of service and contribution to the Australian road transport industry.

Along with Mr Driscoll, truck importation pioneers Edwin Cameron and Max Winkless were awarded the honour.

The awards held special significance this year with the Reunion event celebrating its 20th anniversary.  Approximately 8000 members of the trucking industry travelled from across Australia to be present.

As NTI’s Industry Affairs Manager, Mr Driscoll has been committed to improving safety standards by analysing and sharing accident data, and working with government bodies, associations and industry leaders to make practical safety improvements.

He is also responsible for the establishment of NTI’s National Truck Accident Research Centre.

“The recognition is humbling,” Mr Driscoll said.  “I am privileged to have been associated with the road transport industry through my roles at NTI.”

NTI CEO Tony Clark said it was inspiring to see Owen’s commitment to the transport industry during his four decades with the company.

“On behalf of everyone at NTI, I congratulate Owen on this achievement,” he said.  “We’re extremely proud of his work to improve Australian road safety and the way he has represented NTI in the trucking community.”
