National Transport Insurance is proud to announce its Gold Sponsorship of the Burrumbuttock Hay Runners. The not-for-profit initiative supports members of the transport and farming industries in providing essential resources to drought stricken farmers across New South Wales and Queensland.
Burrumbuttock Hay Runners was founded in 2014 by Brendan “Bumpa” Farrell after he heard about a farmer in Bourke, NSW struggling due to drought. Since then, 11 successful hay runs have taken place.
The last run in April, 2016 involved over 250 trucks transporting $6million worth of hay from Burrumbuttock in NSW to Ilfracombe in QLD. More than 500 volunteers from across Australia were involved.
“We’re proud to be a part of such an inspiring initiative” said NTI’s CEO, Mr Tony Clark. “The Burrumbuttock Hay Runners demonstrates the mateship and community spirit that makes us proud to be part of the Australian transport industry.”
The 2017 run will begin on 24 February and will run from Darlington Point in NSW to Muttaburra in QLD.
